A Daisy-Trail Of You

There is something to be said of friendship...and I found the perfect quote to sum it up:

"The good news is that you are dealing with people...the bad news is that you are dealing with"...no...wait...wrong one.

*A-hem*

"It is one of the blessings of old friends
that you can afford to be stupid with them."
(Ralph Waldo Emerson)

Today I sit and I think of all the wonderful friends that make up my life...and I realize just how very blessed I am as I see the daisy-trail that God laid out in my path through each and every one of them.

I mean, just a day or so ago I was sitting with one of my long-time chums and we were just shooting the breeze when suddenly, mid-sentence, she plants her face into her own armpit and comes up with nose-wrinkled expression.  (Nope, I'm not naming any names, but that's her down below in the purple.

I did what any faithful, devoted, loving and true friend would do: I stared at her for a second too long and then said, as quitely loud as politely possible, "What the freak are you doing????"

It's little moments filled with that one saying "sooooo-doooooommmmm" over and over  (don't ask) while this one just took a drink that caused an ice-shifting spill that leaves her looking as tho she should be off feeding a baby...(think on that one for a moment ~ you'll get it in a second...still nothing? hmmm...email me).

It's playing cards over now empty bags of Sweet-N-Spicy Doritos and admitting to having just wet myself while laughing at something that, in all honesty now, really wasn't that funny.

It's knowing that that one sleeps in da buff and averting your eyes when she has to make a mid-night trip to the potty while camping in the mountains and it's notes from this one, left in the comment section that no one else gets but that leave me choking on white skittles.

It's making eye contact with that one in order to immediately re-connect our ESP from the other side of the room and it's a hand-shapped print on the butt of my shorts cuz this one thought it would be funny to rid herself of some extra paint.

It's replies to FaceBook statuses, cards and necklaces from New York, surprise books in the mail, and chocolate pastries for my birthday...

It's perfect Bible verses via text, huge bunches of sunflowers left on my front porch, inside jokes and knowing that even though it has been ages since we last got together, nothing has changed.

It's always remembering that "good friends crop out the bulge" and never forgetting what to food to bring when the other has had a horrible day.

There are moments in my life when I stop to think on all the blessings in my life...and if I had to take the time to count every person and memory that has blessed me with laughter and love, you'd never be done reading this post.  But what I find most amazing is that God can take a blog, like this one, and fill it with amazing friends that I may never see in real life (...although I pray that isn't the case...) and give me such a love and passion for them that I can't put it into words.

So here's to you...my crazy, slightly off-kiltered, amazing and loyal friends...whether in the next city or on the next blog over...today, I celebrate you! :)

Listening to my own giggles while looking up as always...

I love this. Love the quote too. Uh, the SECOND one :)

Friendship is what keeps me afloat. I'm so glad you have such good (and funny) friends.

Oh, dear friend, you leave me in stitches!! And I fear I may never hear from you again as those within your physical grasp may never let their chokehold off of you!
I love you so much, and I PROMISE to leave you a few of the red and purple Skittles... as long as you don't hand me any white ones. ;)
Some day, my friend, some day. (if the summer with my kids continues as is, I will be purchasing a one way ticket and you may never get me to leave!)

The Twillypop and I seem to have hit even deeper levels of friendship as of late if bodily sounds are an indication..... Hoping to share some bodily sounds with you some day! :O)

That's my favorite Emerson quote! True, though--and I love that pic of your friends. Priceless.

*wink* who knew that one day when having a one on one bible study with someone I hardly knew and I didn't know if I liked would lead to a friendship that I treasure and pray will always keep its freshness of laughter, good talks, and tears. love you!
