Break of Dawn

A new year...

A new beginning...

A fresh start...

A clean slate...

January 1st found me still in my pj's at nearly 4 pm (...oh such gloriousness!!), a day full of nothing to do and no where to be, waiting for that "Aren't I so excited for a new year" feeling to strike me...

But even now, days later...I find that I ponder that day, the first of a fresh year, as I actually catch myself with an odd giggle in my throat as I realize that that the joke is on us: it is really no different than any other day of the year.

Granted, the commercials for gym memberships are played more often and cars will be sold for a great deal less money...but the thing that we so crave on the first of the year is something that we are promised each and every morning: fresh mercies...renewed grace...a clean slate.

Today is the first day in a long string of wasted hours that I rose early enough in the day that the house is still quiet, the hubby and the rugrats still tucked into warm covers and sweet dreams.  Called up and out by the One whose voice has been painfully silenced as of late...He whispered to my slumbering heart and bid me to come to greet Him before the new day introduced itself to the world.

Wrapped in a warm blanket, I immersed myself in His Word...I poured out my heart in my spanking new journal (....another sweet gloriousness for me!)...and in the quietness of this Monday morning, I rediscovered the joy of hearing that small whisper that blows like a warm breeze across the sensitive skin of my oh-so-often forgetful heart.

And at just the sound of His intake of breath, my body froze...
desperately aware of His presence,
acutely searching for His face in a room long gone dark
and then...
Oh Sweet Mercy...
...then, He spoke

Words cannot accurately describe my stupid grin or my sweet joy so I won't bother trying, but I can promise that both still linger as I sit here, much as I am sure Eve's lasted for oh so long after her call to wake from slumber with His warm breath of life into her lungs.

Still wrapped in my blanket, fresh from a peek at the watercolor that is exploding across the sky as the sun awakens nature with her slow approach to the horizon, I sit and hope to share the contagiousness of this moment.

This is the day,
this is the day that the Lord hath made,
that the Lord hath made.
I will be glad,
I will be glad and rejoice in it,
rejoice in it.

What about today has you rejoicing in this new day, richly full of his merciful love?

Listening to Group 1 Crew's Can't Go On while, once again, looking up at the One who wakes nature...as always before...

Beautifully said! No one day is more special than any other. So glad you took the time to hear from God, and of course He was there! :O)

Moments in the presence of the Master- priceless. He beckons us all to simply come. How simple it that?!

Glory!

To hear His voice after a long, dark silence. Beautiful, Bina.

May you blessed in the new year. It's nice to "be here" again with you.

Thanks, everyone, for your sweet comments and encouragement. Been a long, hard month for me spiritually...but the great thing about God is that HE never moves!!

Karen...my kids took that just this morning!!! (...ok that or I searched for 'woman in pjs' on google...hee hee)

Hugs!
Bina

Beautiful post my dear friend!
The closeness is such a precious gift, if only we were aware enough to receive it as often as He grants it. Many, many blessings to you in this new year!
