Sissy La-La Hosts A Giveaway

***Update as of 1/31...  This giveaway is closed and the winners are posted...click HERE to view them...read on for a GREAT vent session!! ***

Ok...can I just say that I am exhausted??

I realize that I love my children (so much so) and that they really are great kids (I would know...I have done comparative shopping with other local models...what? like you haven't ever done that!...) and that they are old enough that I don't have to really DO all that much for them (...ok that one is if-y...) and that really, compared to so many single moms out there who do this on a daily basis with no help and little complaining, I am being a huge sissy la-la about the hubby being out of town for a few days (and I don't deny it because I am)...

...really I think they just waited for the right moment so they could fall apart!!  No, I am not over-reacting on this at all (...ok, maybe I am, but this is my blog so I can vent if I want to...) as they were just at the top of their games tonight!

The eldest, God love her, forgot (...oh wait, sorry..."didn't know about") a project that was due Monday, so her teacher gave her until Wednesday (yes, today) to get it done...but that really wan't all that helpful as she had a project in another class due (no, of course she didn't do it over the weekend...how silly you are...) AND still had the regular homework to do so...  Well, long story short (too late), I am evil and mean and bossy and I just don't listen-or-understand-how-hard-it-is...

Yup.  Because it was so long ago for me....

Before I digress...

The youngest was upset about her recently discovered, totally un-useable Christmas gift (...yes, I know it is almost February...).  I told her to stop being dramatic about the smell of her Mess-Free Crayola Wonder painting set so she stuck the brushes under my nose to test for myself.  Yes, they stunk...badly...but the fact that they touched my nostril and so, stained my nasal tissue so that I can still smell them hours later...  Well, that is just an added bonus.

The cougher can't understand that even tho the medicine she has taken isn't working as well as she would like on her congestion, more medicine will poison her liver...nor can she grasp why I don't sound happier saying good-night when it is 30 minutes past bedtime and I am standing in the kitchen with four of the five up trying to tell me something "very important".

The lone boy "will finish cleaning his room only after I rush out to find a nail in the garage" (...it is pouring outside...) because he can't clean without that picture hanging up because he likes it...a lot.  Yeah, that didn't happen and the room still got clean...imagine that.

And the last girlie...well, she decided to stop glaring at me and stomping around once she finally finished the essay (...I don't think it unreasonable to think it could have been done if not for the 2 hours of messing around...) and didn't have to miss any of American Idol.

...and now that I see it all in print, I can understand it.

I have become my mother.

Have I mentioned that I really miss their Daddy and that I want a vacation??

Onto the giveaway...the only reason you really sat thru all of that.

You guys are sweet enough to read my book reviews (...or at least I think you do...) so here is your chance to get a book in hand and not have to pay anything for them!!  Who can say no to that?!?

I went back and forth on this ~

Fiction or inspirational
Thriller or introspection
Real-life or, well, totally not.

I finally settled on...BOTH as I love y'all that much!

Yup...I am going to giveaway TWO books to TWO lucky winners:

1 - "Vanish" by Tom Pawlik ~ is a work of inspirational fiction about three strangers who each encounter the same mysterious storm and awake the next day to find that everyone else has vanished...and I found it very hard to put down as I wanted to know the truth of what was going on. Great read with an original ending...

2 - "The Sacred Meal" by Nora Gallagher ~ I did a review on this work of inspirational introspection and if you HERE you can read about it.

This contest will run until 8pm PST Sunday, January 31st and the rules, well they are quite simple:

1 - Leave a comment and you get an entry.
*Sympathize with my day and you have my I-Will-Love-You-Forever devotion for life*

2 - Follow my blog by clicking on the "They really like me" section to the right and get another entry.

3 - Tweet about it and you get another entry for each tweet, once per day.
*Please make sure you include @binaspad so I can keep track of your tweets.*

4 - Refer a friend this direction and you get TWO additional entries.
*Tell them to put your name and/or twitter/blog name into their comment*

Two winners will be drawn using a fail-proof, no-cheat method.
...they are kids...they don't know you...so they won't cheat when they pull a name from the bucket.  really.

Please note that both books have been read once however
both are in excellent condition...
clean, non-smoking home and not a bent page to be found.

Will be giving away something really fun next Monday to kick off February, or at least I think it is fun...
stay tuned!

Also, a great gal name Diane has a great interview up and is hosting a book giveaway over at her place too.

Looking up as always...

Why is it that they always have something "important" to say right before they have to go to bed??? Hmmm...

What a great giveaway! I love books!

I'm not here for the contest, just the sympathy..... I find either total peace when my husband goes away or total chaos. Mine is leaving tomorrow so I'll let you know how it all turns out. then again I only have 2 to your brood of 5 so odds are, you'll always be crazier..... not helping here, am I? :O) Love ya and BIG hugs from NY!!!!!

Thanks for the morning laugh!! I mean, I felt bad for ya and all... but ya made me laugh!
You may gladly come visit ME for a vacation (Skittles will be promised) however, I don't know who in their right mind considers vacationing in a flat frozen tundra where even walking to the neighboors house can be considered "life threatening" But! your kids aren't here. So, its still a vacation, right?! ;)
Hugs to you on this last day before your hubby comes home! (mine left again today too, but as D said up there -- only 2 kids verses your 5)

It's funny that you blogged about this as I didn't feel well yesterday and let the hubby take control last night. Wellllll, this morning as I am trying to get the kiddies(and the key word is TRYING) into the car so I wouldn't be late for work, I caught a glance at the project due today on Harriet Tubman...here's the part where I groaned out loud as it was horrrsssiiible!!!! So I grab tape, glue, constuction paper and markers to add a bit of 'oommfff' to the "oml, I'd be embarrased to have my child turn this in project" while trying to get my shoes on and still get out the door. I wound up having to do a drive by as soon...meaning I drove by and kind of tossed my kids out so I wouldn't be late for work. Motherhood...uh, yeah.

ooo, the fiction sounds great! You relate the teenage years so comically. LOL.... But I do understand. Hope your hubbie gets back soon. :)

Oh my gosh, I am totally cracking up over this blog post! I don't have 5 kids...but I can certainly relate to the before-bed bedlam! Sometimes makes me feel like my head is going to pop off. Anyway, thanks for giving me a good laugh (I'm sorry to be laughing...I know you are having a bad day). And thanks for commenting on my guest post over at Katdish's blog today!

It's like someone slips that loopy juice while they are brushing their teeth for bed, huh?

So you know me and my ADD, I am not a big reader (I just started Crazy Love this week.....so I should be done by July....hey, it's about 150+ pages or something crazy like that, ROFL)

.....so if I am chosen, please give my prize to commenter....hmmmmmmmmm.......#12.

I love everything you write! You make me laugh, and other times you make me really think about things in a different light. Kevin has been traveling a lot and it has been challenging many nights. One needs water, the light on, the music on, a book, and the list goes on. While I am listening to the million excuses, I am trying to nurse one to sleep who keeps getting woken up because her brother comes in every half a second:) I want to pull my hair out at times. Thanks for poating this. It gives us mommy's the reassurance that we are all in the same boat whether they are infants or teenagers:)

Gotta love kids! My 10 y.o. likes to tell me about wrongs that have been done to him a week or more later so there isn't anything you can do about it! "Mom, so and so called me a **** and really hurt my feelings. When did that happen honey? UMMMMM, like a couple of weeks ago" He's gotten better. Instead of telling me about something that happened 6 mos. ago he tells me after about a week. Progress not perfection. :) Thanks for the chance to win a book. And thanks for coming over from Diana's blog to visit me and enter my giveaway! I'm following you now, btw. :)

My heart goes out to you, Bina, because my precious daughter in law takes care of all 4 of my grandbabies while my son (her hubby) is in special training...and he's deploying again in just two weeks. I know it's hard, because after visiting them last week I nearly collapsed! *big smile*

I pray that the joy of the Lord will be your strength, Bina, and that this coming week will be far better for you.

P.S. "Vanish" sounds really good, and I hope I win!

although not a mom yet, i sympathise because i did this to my mom once and i can still clearly remember the look of horror/shock/incredulity/pain/disbelief/utter love on her face.

hoping that the dreamed of holiday can be a reality soon.
