NT Audio Bible: Review

Title: The Word of Promise New Testament Audio Bible

I jumped at the chance to get this set of CDs when I saw them listed over at BookSneeze.com because I have been searching for a set that gets and keeps my attention as I drive.  I have listened to other Bibles on CDs...and I have never really been impressed by the same person reading...booo-oooring.  (Yes...I am ADHD, but that is not much of a shock...look! Shiny!!)

So when this set of CDs arrived in my mailbox, I popped them into the player in my van within seconds of opening the box...and they have been playing ever since.  Even my kids have enjoyed hearing the New Testiment acted out by different voices with realistic background sounds as you can close your eyes and see it all playing out.

The CDs come in a great looking, zippered binder for safe storage and the actors used on the recordings are are well-known and amazing to listen to.  (Having seen The Passion Of The Christ, it adds a lot to have Jim Caviezel's voice coming thru as Jesus.)  They are done in the NKJV, but with the tones of voice and the conversations playing out, I have had no issue following along and understanding God's Word.

Cover Information:
Hear the Bible Come Alive in Dramatic Audio Theater™!

This multi-voiced, scripted dramatization of the New King James Version (NKJV) features a star-studded cast of actors, an original music score, and incredible feature film quality sound effects. This world-class production creates a dramatic audio theater experience that makes you feel like you’re really there with Jesus and His disciples. Listen in your car, on your MP3 player, or with your family or small group to gain a new perspective of the Bible.

The cast includes Jim Caviezel as Jesus, Stacy Keach as Paul, Louis Gossett, Jr. as John, Ernie Hudson as Peter, Michael York as Narrator, Kimberly Williams-Paisley as Mary, Mother of Jesus, Marisa Tomei as Mary Magdalene, and many others.

The Word of Promise® New Testament Audio Bible is a 20-CD set and includes a bonus “Behind-the-Scenes” DVD.

God's Word...amazing sounds and acting...throw in a bonus DVD showing the background info and getting to see the actors at the mic...  This is an amazing value...both for the dollar AND for the heart!!  Looking for a set of Bible on CDs?  This is the one to get!!

I review for BookSneeze

**Thomas Nelson provided me this set of recordings for a review and is allowing me to keep this title once finished. I get nothing else in way of compensation...other than the chance to fill my heart and soul with an excellent "read". :) **

Listening to His Word while looking up as always...

I have an audio version of NIV Bible on my iPod... and let me tell you.. I love listening to the word and reading along (my mind will NOT let me concentrate if I get stuck on a word or name I do not know how to pronounce, I could be 5 verses ahead but my brain is still on that word or name I did not know how to say) but OH MY WORD is this reader the worst...

I also have The Message (new testament) on iPod and I like the tone of these readers...but now you've reminded me of how I can deal with traffic on the way to work... plug iPod into my car with one of those dohickies and listen to it.. hard to be vocal to bad drivers when God's word is on your speakers!

Thanks for the review, Bina. Like you, I'd seen it in the stores and thought, "hmmmm...would my kids tell me to turn this off, too because 'I no like that!"?" Looking forward to getting it in our library.
